Ryan Garcia will take on Devin Haney on April 20 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. However, as of right now, the Victorville native is on a mission to give back to his devoted fans. In a recent pinch, the 25-year-old boxer shared a video on social media where he bought shoes for everyone present in a store.

‘King Ry’ and ‘The Dream’ Haney are currently at each other’s throats, throwing verbal jabs at each other and the whole shebang in an effort to promote their upcoming fight. So, when the new clip dropped, many were left wondering if it was just another way Garcia was enticing his fans to buy the pay-per-view. However, Garcia claimed the opposite.

As the entourage arrived at the destination, Ryan Garcia announced he would buy shoes for everyone in the store, which left everyone there filled with excitement as they could not believe their luck. However, it rubbed the wrong way with fans online, so in the comments of the post, ‘King Ry’ expressed his thoughts about the criticism.

“I thought I [added] in the comments – I’m not looking for praise. I do this type of stuff often, and I never press record. The one time I decide to record, I’m reading so much hate. It saddens my heart. In what does it hurt to help anyone out? I pray for you guys. Don’t think me expressing myself is [a] weakness. I really will turn up,” wrote Garcia. While Garcia claims he wanted to do something special for his fans, Haney has accused Garcia of trying to weasel out of the fight.

Devin Haney on the venue of the fight

Following the announcement of the venue for the fight, Ryan Garcia claimed he wanted the fight to be in Las Vegas. Notably, the main reason why the fight isn’t happening in Las Vegas is because of Canelo Alvarez. His May 4 fight is close to the Garcia-Haney fight. So, PBC has blocked off any events drying up their profits before the fight, as revealed by Dan Rafael.

So, when Garcia expressed his desire for the fight to happen in Vegas, Haney claimed, “This dude planning his escape.. h*e a** n***a talk that tough talk but now talking like a b***h!” In a later tweet, even Haney confirmed why the fight can not happen in Las Vegas. “The reason the fight not happening [in] Vegas is because they don’t wanna affect Canelo ticket sales,” wrote Haney.

With all the controversy surrounding the venue of the fight, Ryan Garcia might be trying to get back in the good graces of his fans by buying people free shoes. However, whether the venue for the fight remains the same is uncertain – as of now. Do you think the fight should happen in Vegas? What did you think about Ryan Garcia buying people shoes?
