Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua seem to be on a collision course to face each other. Now with Joshua facing Kubrat Pulev, things have gone one step further in that direction. The two explosive heavyweights will enter the ring to battle it out for supremacy while Fury will watch on closely. However, ahead of their fight, let’s look at what Tyson Fury had said about Anthony Joshua’s current opponent, Kubrat Pulev.

This was back in 2015 when Fury was just set to fight Wladimir Klitschko. The then challenger was talking to BoxingNewsOnline and trash-talking Klitschko’s previous opponents. The undefeated champion said of Kubrat Pulev, “Let’s go to Kubrat Pulev. Another guy, 6 foot 4, from Bulgaria, with no money and nothing. Comes into a world heavyweight title fight, stands in the ring like that there. [High Guard]”

He then described him as, “Some big, stiff, stupid European fighter. And stood in front of a man who could knock a wall down…. Bum!” So clearly Fury did not rate Kubrat Pulev back in 2015 and thought he was no match for Klitschko. However, he has voiced his respect for the Bulgarian recently before the fight.

Is Kubrat Pulev the same fighter that Tyson Fury said he was?

Pulev himself has admitted that his fight against Klitschko was one of his worst performances as the occasion got the better of him. He has since picked himself up and fought a decent caliber of opponents to earn this title shot. So we can expect a better fighter and certainly, a better fight between the two.

So though Tyson Fury may have disrespected him in the past, his opinion may have changed since then. However, we are not sure the ‘Gypsy King’ will rate Joshua’s win provided he can get the job done.
