“Fast punches in 10 seconds. Who can do it better than me?”
In a depiction of ferocious speed, the WBA titleholder dished out 111 strikes in a paltry 10 seconds. Consequently, he averaged approximately 10 vicious, jaw-breaking strikes per second for 10 continuous seconds. It is difficult to fathom the amount of raw power and energy that one must house to deliver such a marvelous feat.
Moreover, it is not just his speed that blows the mind away. Besides his lightning-fast hands, the strength behind each punch that wrecks havoc on the steel plate is easily visible. Although the plate seemed perfectly fine, its shape underwent a drastic change after the Featherweight champion unleashed his fury upon it.
How does speed assist fighters like Xu Can rise a level above the rest?
Obviously, the faster a boxer moves one’s hands, the more lethal one can be. In a sport like boxing, any every millisecond becomes an opportunity to turn the tide of the bout.
Therefore, if a person has trained his muscles to respond as rapidly as we saw in the video, then he expands the horizon of the strikes that he can dish right on target.

Training one’s body to be super-fast also contributes to a much better defense. The sense of reading movements, reacting, and countering heightens every time a player pushes oneself to max out his speed in training.
One such example is Ryan Garcia’s most recent first-round KO victory over Francisco Fonseca. The Lightweight prodigy dished out a punch so fast and dangerous that Fonseca had no clue what hit him. Furthermore, the acceleration of the strike also provides it with devastating force.
