WBA welterweight ‘super’ champ Yordenis Ugas put on a fine performance in his last boxing outing against the legend, Manny Pacquiao. In what was his first title defense, the underdog succeeded in pulling off an upset. Post that fight, the 35-year-old had a powerful urge to face the WBC and IBF welterweight champ, Errol Spence Jr. for a title unification bout.

That said, he even requested the WBA to let him lock horns with Spence Jr. as this fight had a bigger prize for him. Unfortunately for the Cuban boxer, WBA dismissed Ugas’ request to fight ‘The Truth’ and upheld their decision to have him fight his mandatory challenger Eimantas Stanionis.

Per ESPN, Ugas and Stanionis’ teams have thirty days to reach an agreement.

Ugas was under tremendous pressure ahead of the Manny Pacquiao fight- one that he accepted on short notice as ‘The Truth’ suffered an eye injury. ’54 Milagros’ employed his lanky physique to hammer Pacquiao. Moreover, he adopted the policy of hitting and not getting hit in return.
