Demetrius Andrade, one of the most consistent middleweight champs, is eager to get back inside the squared circle. He fought twice this year, defending his WBO middleweight title successfully. Now, he’s in contention to face his next opponent, and the WBO has ordered a purse bid for his fight.
Everyone is excited to see Andrade, but who is he potentially getting aligned with?
The WBO champ is in line to face Zhanibek Alimkhanuly for his next title defense. The WBO, on November 30 this year, gave a negotiation letter to Andrade’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, and Alimkhanuly’s promoter, Bob Arum, to have an agreement.

However, both parties failed to come out with an agreement. Following that, the WBO issued a follow-up letter on December 13 to request an update on the negotiations. They gave the two parties a 48-hour window to advise accordingly.
Despite that, the two parties couldn’t reach a positive conclusion and the WBO later added upon letting this fight go for the purse bids. In a letter to Arum and Hearn, the WBO cleared the purse bid for this fight will be held at the WBO headquarter offices in San Juan, Puerto Rico on January 15, 2022.
Further, they even added the minimum amount for the purse bids that stood to $200,000.
