The coronavirus saga has made the trilogy bout between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder a distant reality this year according to promoter Bob Arum. The two were set to headline an event on July 18th at the Las Vegas strip, however, this was ruled out. Arum had offered a backup date in early October, but with the current scenario, this date is no longer valid.

“We cannot do Fury and Wiler without an audiennce”- Bob Arum
?I talked to Tyson Fury on Sunday and I told him the earliest I thought the fight could happen in November. Who knows even about November?. Obviously, we cannot do Fury and Wilder without an audience. If you are going to do it with an audience, are people going to be willing to get on a plane and come to Las Vegas? So many of the fans come from the UK. A lot of that has to be taken into account. Maybe it doesn?t happen until next year.? Said Arum to boxing scene
This will certainly be a blow for boxing fans around the world, eagerly waiting for the trilogy to take place. The virus has made sporting events it?s main victim, with several promotions suffering losses in the millions and major events called off.

Despite concerns, Arum assured fans the fight will take place as soon as the situation clears up. Tyson Fury dominated the rematch, after the first stalemate between the two fighters. Fury pressed Wilder from the start, making easy work of the Bronze bomber and finishing the fight in round 7.
