Boxing can be crazy sometimes. Rising female boxing star, Ramla Ali from Somalia, has taken the side of YouTuber turned professional boxer, Jake Paul, even after being defeated by his candidate, in a poll run by ESPN Ringside. The incident happened with a Twitter poll from popular boxing media house, ESPN ringside where they were going to give awards in different categories. And at that, there was head to head competition between Ramla Ali and Ashton Sylve, and Jake Paul urged his fans to vote for Ashton Sylve. In the end, the result was in favor of Ashton Sylve. But after the result, Ramla took a U-turn, and she defended Jake Paul with her new Twitter post.

Ramla Ali is a very talented boxer and is gaining popularity. There were huge expectations among fans for Ali. But in the end, Ashton Sylve got the win.

What happened at the poll?

ESPN Ringside ran a poll for the 2022 ESPN Ringside Social Prospect award of the year, and they nominated four names including, Keyshawn Davis, Ellie Scotney, Ashton Sylve, and Ramla Ali. It was a tie between Ashton Sylve and Ramla Ali, with each standing at 39%. At the time, Jake Paul came to the game and asked his fans to vote for Ashton Sylve and the game was upside down.

After the result, Ali stood at 38.6% and it was a close call for Sylve, with a slim win at 39.2%. But even after losing the poll, Ali has no hard feelings against Jake Paul. She said on Twitter, “somalinimo till i dhimo. Over 16,000 votes in the end, I appreciate the love people … and no need for any backlash to those DM’ing me asking for @jakepaul address. We move with love but you guys don’t play around.”

She had urged everyone not to spread hate against Jake Paul, and she has no bad feelings due to the loss. She might be focussing on her career and for the next year.

Why was Ramla Ali angry at Jake Paul?

Ramla Ali was angry at Jake Paul because he was trying to polarize the poll. Everyone knows the closeness between Ashton Sylve and Jake Paul. Paul was extending his support to Sylve, and it was giving the latter an upper hand despite Ramla Ali being everyone’s favorite. Also, a Twitter account named Somali Athlete blamed Jake Paul for supporting his athlete, due to which, the result might be biased. It led to the clash, thankfully Ali chose ‘Love’ over war.
