WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury believes that Deontay Wilder will be more dangerous than ever.

Wilder and Fury met for the first time in 2018. The bout was extremely competitive. Both fighters had their moments. Critics believe that Fury was the better boxer that night. However, the two knock-downs that he suffered in the late rounds swayed the judges. Hence, the bout ended in a controversial draw.

Nonetheless, the duo collided for the second time more than a year later. Unlike the first fight, the rematch was completely different. Fury brought the fight to Wilder and knocked him down twice in the fight, before stopping him in the seventh.

The rematch was an eye-opener for many fans and pundits. Fury proved that Wilder is not comfortable fighting on his back foot. While many think that the trilogy will be a piece of cake for Fury, “The Gypsy King” believes that Wilder is still a dangerous opponent.

“Heavyweight boxing takes one punch. Dismantle Deontay Wilder? It only takes one punch off Deontay Wilder,” Fury told Sky Sports.

Tyson Fury believes that Deontay Wilder is dangerous

“Still a very dangerous opponent, still a very hungry man, who is coming in there to prove his worth, to prove he can come back and become a two-time heavyweight champion. More dangerous than the last fight, for sure. Do you know what? It’s just a boxing match. It’s a boxing match, I don’t look at it like anything else. You win some, you lose some. You never can tell.”

Indeed, Wilder is a dangerous boxer. The American has brutal knockout power in his hands. Out of his 42 wins, 41 came via knockouts. In his fight against Luis Ortiz, he was losing all rounds until the knockout happened. So it is safe to say that Wilder is deadly at any point in the match.

Wilder also complained about the heavy walkout costume in the second Fury fight. While critics think of it as a scapegoat, nobody truly knows how much it affected Wilder. Besides that, Fury seems to realize the threat that Wilder brings to the table. The Brit said that he will be training hard for the trilogy.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge, whenever that may be. I’ll get over there, nice and early, eight to 10 weeks beforehand. Put in a good, grueling training camp. Hopefully I’ll be injury-free and we’ll go out there and dance beneath the stars, in front of the world after the coronavirus.”

Fury has no ill will towards Wilder

Fury wishes that both, himself and Wilder get out of the ring safely. He wants both men to go back to their families in one piece. The champion also expressed his frustration with the Coronavirus and wants to box again.

Moreover, Fury is glad that he is not into politics because “that job is difficult, much more difficult than taking punches in the face for money.”
