On the fateful day of March 9th, Caleb Plant’s mother, Beth Plant, sadly passed away after being involved in a police shooting. According to various sources, Beth, 51, was being transported by ambulance to a hospital in Tennessee. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation revealed later that Beth had become highly combative during the ride.

The statement from TBI also revealed that Beth had pulled a knife from her backpack and reportedly started prodding at the ambulance’s windows. Beth allegedly threatened Sgt. Paul Ivey, with the knife, as Ivey kept ordering Beth to put the weapon away, which fell on deaf ears. Defying the orders from the Sgt., Beth approached the officer, resulting in Ivey firing two shots. After this unfortunate altercation, Beth Plant was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead because of her injuries.

Citing the immediate threat posed to the deputies and the emergency personnel involved, the district attorney classified the use of deadly force as a justified action. This entire ordeal was a significant loss for Caleb Plant, who had already been through the heartbreaking loss of his infant daughter, Alia, in 2015.
