A prime Oscar De La Hoya was undoubtedly one of the biggest names in boxing. Moreover, in a professional career spanning sixteen years, he has secured over eleven world titles in six weight classes. Meanwhile, it is a lesser-known fact that ‘The Golden Boy’ has a golden voice. And has also dabbled with creating a Latin Pop album. In fact, De La Hoya recently revealed that he was nominated for a Grammy for the very same album.

De La Hoya released an album bearing his name as the title in the year 2000. This album which marked his debut in the music industry consisted of pop and romantic ballads. And was produced by multi-Grammy Award winner Rudy Perez. One of the most notable songs in the album was Ven A Mi (Anglicized to ‘Run to Me’).

Reportedly, he was nominated for the 43rd Grammy Awards for the same. As per HispanicAd, the nomination was under the ‘Best Latin Pop Album’ category. However, pop queen Shakira and her team ended up winning the award for Shakira -TV Unplugged. Notably, ‘The Golden Boy’ celebrated his 50th birth anniversary recently.

De La Hoya’s singing was sure to be a surprise for his fans. More so, when he mentioned that he was nominated for a Grammy in an Instagram post. In fact, a lot of fans took to the comments to share their thoughts.

Radio host, Courtney Lopez, was quick to say, “I had no idea this existed and now my life has changed forever.”

Tyrone AKA Rose Papi, on the other hand, mentioned, “What in the Enrique.”

David Fuller had an interesting memory to share. He said, “I love this album I dedicated a few of your songs to my fiancée almost 4 years back when she was my girl. You’re a legend, and you’re the GOAT.”

However, this news came as no surprise to the hardcore fans of De La Hoya. Mr. Rob mentioned, “If you are a fan of Oscar’s or lived through this like me then you remember this and whole lot of other stuff. IG generation probably just knows Oscar through YouTube.”

Similarly, Joey said, “They all stole Oscar’s style, that was the Golden Boy era.”

There is no denying that the fans were elated to hear the ‘Golden Boy’s golden voice.
