“What the F*** is Going On?” – Mike Tyson Gives His Take On the Fight With Roy Jones Jr.

Mike Tyson has cited concerns over WBC’s decision to hold an eight-round exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr. The bout was initially scheduled to take place on September 21, but was pushed to a later date to maximize revenue. Now, the much-anticipated showdown will take place later this month on November 28 inside Staples Center in California.

In conversation with ESPN, Iron Mike shared his thoughts on this return to the squared circle.

“I wanted to fight a four-round exhibition, next thing I know, I’m fighting Roy Jones, it’s eight rounds and I got three judges and I got a belt involved,” Tyson continued. “Now you tell me, is this an exhibition? You tell me. What the f— is going on? I want an exhibition, now I got a belt involved. C’mon, man.”

However, ahead of the bout, Tyson has raised concerns over the stipulation of the exhibition fight. Roy Jones Jr. and Mike Tyson are supposedly going to exhibit their boxing skills later this month. The lead-up has indicated that fans might be in for a barn-burner when both the boxing greats steps inside the ring.

Can Mike Tyson get past Roy Jones Jr.?

It’s going to be relatively more difficult for Iron Mike than the four-division champion Roy Jones Jr. Captain Hook remained active till his late 40s and last competed inside the ring back in 2018 in a comfortable unanimous decision win.

Meanwhile, Tyson is 54 and will be making his hugely awaited return after almost 15 years. Boxing fans around the world have raised their concerns over the safety of both the fighters. Tyson’s initial offer to fight for four rounds makes complete sense.

He could still look to end proceedings in four rounds by relying on his punching power. However, an eight-round exhibition bout could prove to be an advantage for Roy Jones Jr.
