The WBO super-flyweight champ, Jamel Herring, retained his belt in the most sensational fashion. He terrified Carl Frampton, the toughest contender of his life, thus claiming an important win in round 6 of the fight.

Right from the first gong, ‘Semper Fi’ stuck to his game plan and tried cutting the distance between him and Frampton.

Although, there were a handful of moments in the fight when the American got stunned by the ‘Jackal’. But despite that, he kept himself collected and composed and fought the bout he was supposed to.

‘Semper Fi’ had an undeniable reach advantage over the Belfast native. And in this fight, he certainly capitalized on the same juncture to his fullest.

He dictated the pace of the fight right from the first second and even dropped Frampton multiple times in the fight. Herring kept scoring cosmic points with his stupendous hits and walked down ‘Jackal’ with his brilliance.

He was a sheer underdog in this fight, but Herring proved his naysayers wrong by putting on a clinic against the toughest opponent of his life. That said, the WBO super-featherweight champ has now opened himself to even bigger fights/opponents.

With a win over Frampton, Jamel Herring improved his pro-boxing resume to 23 wins. Post the fight, he even expressed his interest in fighting for the lineal super-featherweight championship. And no one better than the Mexican Oscar Valdez can provide him a stern in-ring test next.

A matchup between the pair would be extremely intriguing in the 130-pound landscape. It has every ability to go down as one of the best fights in super-featherweight history.

Valdez is currently unaligned with any opponent and this might be just the ideal time to book a massive title unification fight between the two.
