Vasyl Lomachenko and Richard Commey unleashed an exciting lightweight slugfest in their headlining collision in tonight’s Top Rank card. Both men delivered their best and battered each other to their limits. However, the fight was far from being close. Ukrainian star Lomachenko proved to be the better man and displayed his A-listed skills against a tough opponent in Commey.

If not for Commey’s lion-heart, Lomachenko would have possibly claimed a KO. However, he had to dig deep and go through all 12-rounds to earn the WBO Interim lightweight title. ‘LOMA’ is once again a relevant name in the 135 lbs title ride. He can fight for the straps next. Meanwhile, former champion Commey shall resurrect himself into the mix.

The Ghanaian boxer clearly proved his worth as a top-tier contender. But after suffering his 4 pro loss, he cannot aim for a title shot anytime soon.

Here’s what we can expect next for Vasyl ‘The Matrix’ Lomachenko and Richard ‘RC’ Commey.

What’s next for Vasyl Lomachenko?

16-2 as a pro, Lomachenko is a mandatory contender to George Kambosos Jr’s WBO title. However, ‘Ferocious’ Kambosos Jr. has three more belts around his waist and is looking to unify them with Devin Haney’s WBC title next. Per the current scenario, Haney vs Kambosos Jr. seems a legitimate fight.

However, Vasyl Lomachenko’s recent win has turned the whole scene complex. The Ukrainian legend can now enter the slide and demand an immediate shot. It makes George Kambosos Jr. and Devin Haney two of his potential opponents.

Besides, Gervonta Davis holds the WBA lightweight belt. While Lomachenko is riding the WBO slide, he is capable enough of challenging Tank’ in a possible fight. However. It’s highly dithering, whether Davis vs Loma is actually a relevant fight at this time.

Well, a rematch against Teofimo Lopez, who recently lost his bets to George Kambosos Jr.? That makes sense, too. But neither side has expressed any interest in it and doesn’t seem a valid fight. While Lomachenko can also appear in several non-title fights, a championship shot suits well for the three-division titlist, especially when he has targeted an undisputed fight.

What’s next for Richard Commey?

Per Box Rec, Commey stands at the 10 rank right now after suffering another massive setback of his pro-run. However, the former champion is still in a safe spot to challenge the A-listers of the division. Relying on his commendable performance tonight, ‘RC’ can take shots at several fighters like Issac Cruz or Joseph Diaz. Both- ‘Pitbull’ and ‘JoJo’ have had unsuccessful attempts at the WBA and WBC lightweight belts, respectively.

They are looking to revive their win streak. While Richard Commey shares a similar goal at this time, he can share the ring with either Diaz or Pitbull. On looking at all three fighters’ recent performances, they look likely to offer tough fights to each other. The entire 135 lbs division is filled with vicious contenders. Hence, Commey can run across any of them to retain his lost spot.
