Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather and his protege Gervonta Davis’ relationship recently took a bizarre turn after the latter requested termination papers from his former promoter. This left many fans wondering how Mayweather would respond to this demand.
However, the former 5 division champ has revealed how he felt when Davis requested to leave his promotion. Mayweather has been ‘Tank’s’ promoter since the start of his professional career back in 2013. Since then, ‘Money’ has guided him on his journey to becoming a multiple-division champion like Mayweather himself. Thus, it was no surprise when ‘TBE’ saw a bit of himself in Davis.

“You meet this kid he comes up to you for an autograph. You signed the autograph for him then I tell him in a few years when you get older. I’m gonna work with you and I’m going to make you a world champion someday. Years later I started working with him, helped him, pushed him to be great, and if he feels like he grew wings where he can fly and becomes his own boss, more power to him,” Mayweather added.
