“Mike used to come to my fights, so we’ve been friends for a long time,” Cooper reveals to TalkSport, laying the foundation of Tyson’s connection to the team. He elaborated on the origin of this partnership, tracing back to a commitment made years ago. “Four years ago, Francis went on Mike Tyson’s podcast, and they talked about fighting people like Tyson Fury. Francis and Mike made an agreement then — if Francis did a boxing fight, Mike would have to work his corner,” Cooper explained.
Cooper emphasized Tyson’s influential role in Ngannou’s boxing journey, highlighting his contributions beyond mere physical training. “Mike had to be a part of it. He trained Francis when he could. Whenever he came in, he took over. It’s Mike Tyson!” he said with a sense of admiration.

The coach further underscored Tyson’s motivational impact on Ngannou, “I think the main factor he played, besides the great training and instructions, was the motivation of Francis. When Mike Tyson came to the gym, Francis lit up like a kid on Christmas morning about to open his gifts,” Cooper described vividly.
Addressing the upcoming fight, Cooper expressed his hopes and expectations regarding Tyson’s involvement. “Whatever way Francis wants Mike Tyson to be involved, he will be. I’m sure he will come through like he did last time,” he stated confidently.
These insights from Cooper not only confirm Tyson’s profound influence on Ngannou but also suggest a continued collaboration in the lead-up to the Joshua fight. Now the question arises, what Francis has in mind to beat Joshua?
