‘The Chosen One’ was born on May 18, 1997, in Brooklyn, New York City, USA. His family moved to the USA prior to him being born. That said, Berlanga is both American and Puerto Rican.

The 23-year-old is also a gold medallist in the 2015 US Youth National Championships, held in 2015. A year after achieving that, Berlanga made his pro boxing debut against Jorge Pedroza and claimed a KO in the first round of the fight.
