Former IBF Junior lightweight titlist Rober Garcia reflected on a recent heartwarming gesture from Gervonta Davis while revealing Oscar De La Hoya’s charitable act. Earlier this week, Gervonta Davis went back to his roots in Baltimore to buy a nine-house block in his childhood neighborhood of Sandtown, Winchester. As per reports, Davis – who owns GTD Development, has acquired the properties and will renovate the homes. These homes will be converted into affordable housing for the people in the Baltimore community.

On Thursday, City Council President Nick Mosby praised the undefeated boxer for his donation and awarded him with a City Council of Baltimore Presidential Citation. However, he isn’t alone in commending the WBA Regular lightweight champion!

During Thursday’s press conference, Nick Mosby claimed he remembers the time Davis asked to speak to some teens who were incarcerated. The teens were awaiting trial as adults, and, as per Mosby, Davis was enthusiastic to speak to them. He went on to suggest that Davis travels the world, representing the city of Baltimore on his own.

Mosby added that Davis’ decision to come back and contribute to his hometown is truly special. “Tank, when he goes around the world, he literally carries the city of Baltimore on his back,” Mosby said. “For you to come back, invest in your hometown, invest in your community, and invest in your block — is truly, truly special,” said Mosby.
