The highly anticipated rematch between Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk significantly altered the heavyweight division in boxing. Following that, Tyson Fury, who was eager to fight Joshua, declared his intention to come out of retirement to take on Usyk after the latter outclassed AJ.

Yet, it was later made known that Fury will initially face Joshua in a British-only event in December. However, the bout was postponed, and it has since been determined that AJ will not fight this year, delaying his return to 2023.

Anthony Joshua was expected to fight Tyson Fury on December 3rd, at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. However, things didn’t work out, and Fury will now fight Derek Chisora on the same date. Joshua, on the other hand, was targeting an upcoming clash against Chris Arreola or Otto Wallin on December 17th in London.

The former WBA, WBO, IBO, and IBF heavyweight champion last fought Oleksandr Usyk in August. He has been paired with a couple of boxers since then for a potential fight, but to no avail.

Following his defeat against Usyk, Joshua’s manager, Eddie Hearn, has been looking for potential opponents for his fighter. The Matchroom Boxing boss stated in an interview, “He’s gonna fight a top 15 guy. You know, the fight that I want, the fight that he wants, is Dillian Whyte. And that’s the biggest fight, it’s not gonna happen in December, but it’s a massive stadium fight next year. The first one was epic, the second one will be even better.”
