Last year, Canelo’s daughter made her debut in the fashion world by paying homage to the 200th anniversary of Jalisco, the land of her proud heritage.

Speaking about the modeling gig, Emily said, “It just happened out of the blue. My mom said, ‘They want you to represent the 200th-anniversary dress of Jalisco.’ And it hit me like a one-two punch! My dad fought on Jalisco’s 200th anniversary, so I thought, ‘What better way to represent Jalisco than through fashion?’” 

As for where her heart truly resides, it has set up shop in the unlikeliest of locales. According to various sources, Canelo’s daughter is a champion on the saddle, having meticulously mastered the art of horseback riding. Emily and her magnificent mare have strutted through numerous national and international equestrian competitions, leaving hoofprints wherever they went. 

Meet Karen Beltrán – Emily Cinnamon Alvarez’s mother

Karen Beltran was born on September 5, 1990, in her home country of Mexico and resides there to this day. The 34-year-old met Canelo in their high school days, as their love blossomed into a beautiful relationship. However, after having their daughter together, the couple grew apart a couple of years later.

In the following years, Karen became a model and actress, having appeared in the Mexican movie ‘El Dia la Mesa.’ She is currently building her social media presence, so she could become an influencer. Interestingly, Karen changed her name to Anny Beltran after separation from Canelo to underscore a new chapter in her life. 

Moreover, the mother-daughter live in Guadalajara, Mexico since Karen won Emily’s custody after separation from Canelo. Despite being apart, Canelo has managed to become an admirable parent to his daughter. However, it begs the question, why did the high school sweethearts separate to begin with? 

Why did Canelo Alvarez and Karen Beltran split?

Karen was reportedly Canelo’s first love, but their relationship was destined to fail. A few years after giving birth to their daughter, the pair separated because they realized pretty quickly that their relationship was deteriorating. However, the former couple didn’t hold any ill-will against each other, as the separation was mutual.

They made it their priority to dote over their daughter’s upbringing and be the exemplary parent their daughter deserved. In fact, the ex-couple still meet each other whenever the occasion calls for a gathering, albeit it’s because of their daughter. 

Speaking about his daughter and early life with ex-girlfriend, Canelo told Graham Bensinger in an interview, “I was 16. My reaction was to take my girlfriend to live with me. She was pregnant. I rented a house for 1000 pesos a month. I brought her to live with me. And I said, ‘well alright’. That was that.”

When Canelo Alvarez and Karen Beltran crossed paths recently

As recently as June 2022, Canelo and Beltran came face to face after a long time. The occasion had called for the meeting, as Emily was graduating from school. The trio even clicked a picture together, with Emily holding her graduation certificate and Canelo and her mom on either side.

After the celebrations, Emily’s mother took to Instagram to share the update with her followers. She wrote, “We are very proud of you, my girl. A new stage begins for you, I wish you the best in High School. The world is yours. You will achieve everything you set your mind to. Never stop believing in yourself.”

She further added, “You are incredible, a very intelligent girl with many qualities. You know we will always be there for you. We love you. Congratulations my beautiful graduate.”
