Born and brought up in Galway, Ireland, John Fury’s life began inside the ring. It was a family tradition to enter the fight game, and he carried on the legacy with pride.

With a colossal 6’3” frame and mammoth weight, Fury fought in the most dynamic division, the heavyweight. In fact, he turned professional in 1987 and lost his very first fight through points.

Despite scoring a loss in his first contest, Fury didn’t let his spirits slump and claimed 6 consecutive victories in just 2 years. However, with a lackluster run and two back-to-back losses, ‘Gypsy’ hung his gloves in 1995.

The 56-year-old couldn’t enjoy a prolific run in the big men’s division. But, he took the setbacks into his stride and turned his son, Tyson Fury, into the heavyweight king of the world. He began training his son from a very early age. And under his wings, the ‘Gypsy King’ won the British title in just 8 bouts.

The father-son duo tasted vast success together. Although Fury changed trainers in his extensive career span, his father has always remained a guiding light for him. Moreover, they’re now keen to vanquish any and every heavyweight from their path to become the undisputed heavyweight champ.
