The showdown between WBA minimum-weight champion Seniesa Estrada vs former olympian Miranda Adkins was one-sided, to say the least. Estrada knocked out Adkins in 7 seconds with a barrage of punches that left Adkins dazed. There was no count needed as the referee stopped the fight as soon as Adkins hit the canvas.

The 42-year-old year Adkins was thoroughly outclassed by 28-year-old Estrada, which left many wondering if it was a good idea to book this fight. Moreover, the difference in their records also gave some idea as to why this was not a fair fight. Estrada is undefeated with an 18-0 record, while Adkins has an underwhelming record of 5-0, in which four of the five fights were against boxers making their professional debuts. This factored with the age difference drew a lot of criticism, as fans were quick to react to this whole fiasco.

Moreover, another fan took a shot at Adkins claiming she was looking for ‘love’ which got her knocked out.

Another fan even referenced basketball legend Michael Jordan. He stated that this was how Jordan would fare up against any NBA player.

Further, another fan also tried to troll Adkins, claiming that this was a cry for help.

Lastly, One fan praised Estrada for her impressive victory and also consoled Adkins for her loss.

Although this fight was put on short notice, many still felt that this was an unnecessary fight to book and could have been avoided altogether.

Athletic Commissioner reveals he should not have approved the fight

The California Athletic State Commission’s director Andy Foster has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism for approving this fight. In an interview with The Ring, Foster revealed that he would have never approved of the fight if he got a second chance. ” I had to do it over again. I wouldn’t have approved that fight. I certainly didn’t think she was going to win the fight. But I thought it would go longer than seven seconds. On paper, hindsight is 20-20 for everybody.”  He said.

This event should be taken as a lesson on bad booking decisions, as it certainly was a top contender for it. In a sport as dangerous as boxing, promoters need to take some responsibility while booking fights to avoid mishaps like this in the future.
