Manny Pacquiao, in his vast boxing career, has taken on countless watch-worthy battles that hooked in millions of fans around the globe. Yet, there are some fights that went as all-time classics and put the fans in a frenzy. That said, one such fight Pacquiao’s enigmatic war with Miguel Cotto.

But when did the Pacquiao vs Cotto fight go down?
As per BoxRec, this fight took place on November 14, 2009. This was a welterweight war for the WBO and the vacant WBC diamond welterweight title. Both fighters put on a show worth the hype and they came out with their absolute best game plans.
The result of the Pacquiao vs Cotto fight certainly went the way a lot of fans would’ve wanted. Pacquiao won this fight fair and square by T/KO’ing Cotto in round 12 of the fight. Also, even if he hadn’t finished his fellow adversary, Pacquiao still would have managed to win the fight easily via a decision.
The three judges also revealed their scorecards for Pacquiao vs Cotto fight, wherein they gave 109-99, 108-99, and 108-100 for the Filipino Senator. Also, Boxing Scene later revealed the Compubox punch stats for Pacquiao vs Cotto fight. Here too, ‘PacMan’ was a clear winner of the fight.

Both fighters pulled off a classic and kept the fans entertained throughout. With that, they also bagged massive paychecks, resulting in a huge purse for this fight overall. The Filipino Senator made around a whopping $22 million and Cotto made around $12 million for this fight.

After a blistering first fight, many fans expected to see a dual war between Pacquiao and Cotto. Despite the latter ending up on the losing vertical, he still showed massive character and gave a stern test to ‘PacMan’.

Pacquiao, after battling Cotto, went on to challenge even bigger opponents and a rematch between these two never came to life.
But, it seems Pacquiao vs Cotto fight was bound to happen once and register itself in the history books forever. In every sense, this fight was one of the best boxing bouts of all time, which cemented Pacquiao’s reign as a true king.
