Oscar De La Hoya, the former multi-weight division champ, who is playing an important role in the happening of Ryan Garcia vs Gervonta Davis fight, revealed new updates about the contract. The Golden Boy Promotion’s owner and CEO first issued a deadline earlier this month. Following Gervonta Davis’s TKO win over Hector Luis Garcia on January 7, De La Hoya asked Davis’s team to put the contract on the table till Monday to renegotiate a clause in the highly anticipated showdown which will see two undefeated boxing stars settling their long-time rivalry in the ring on April 15.

Prior to the current fight drama, one thing was made clear last year in November that finally the two fighters agreed to meet in the ring. Though it was not decided when it will take place, boxing experts speculated it to happen sometime in April. Now when the fight’s draft has been made official, De La Hoya have given new updates.

What did Oscar De La Hoya say about the fight’s contract?

The 49-year-old Olympic Gold Medalist claimed that this fight is going to produce the biggest boxing event of recent years. No doubt, both fighters have the potential to promote this event to the next level. Their rivalry earned a lot of attention from fans and those beyond the sport are also eager to see them going head-to-head in the ring.  With such an amazing context, the fight has already created electrifying buzz among fans.

“We’re just going back and forth with little details here and there, but I feel very confident that April 15 will go down. It will be the biggest event in recent years. I strongly feel that Ryan versus Davis will go down as one of the best events in recent years”, De La Hoya said in an interview with ‘FightHype’.

Furthermore, he added that he wants his fighter Ryan Garcia to win. According to him, the contract contains a rematch clause and if Garcia wins then Davis has all the right to evoke it. He believes that both fighters are young so the first fight could turn out to be the building stone of a trilogy.
