One man’s loss is another man’s gain! YouTube boxer Jake Paul thought he would deliver another banger after the highly profitable Mike Tyson fight last year by squaring off against Canelo Alvarez. However, ‘Cinnamon’ had other plans in mind, and now, he is slated to square off against IBF super middleweight champion William Scull.

You see, after Canelo pulled a fast one on Paul, it was revealed that the Mexican superstar had signed a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season. While we all know Terence Crawford will be Canelo’s second fight of the deal, new reports revealed that William Scull would be his first. This fight will unfold on Cinco De Mayo (May 3) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

What’s even more exciting is the fact that it will be a bout for the undisputed status. If Canelo can snag the IBF belt from Scull, which he should be able to do, the Crawford fight later this year will also be for the undisputed title. However, Scull isn’t just planning on handing Canelo his hard-earned title. And he made it clear on social media.

Earlier today, Saudi Boxing figurehead His Excellency Turki Alalshikh took to X to announce that Scull will be Canelo’s next opponent for May. “The legend Saul Alvarez Canelo will fight William Scull in [an] undisputed fight in Riyadh on the 3rd of May … if he win[s] the fight in September will be undisputed again 🔥🥊,” Alalshikh declared.

Scull took this opportunity to let everyone know he intended to ruin Canelo and Alalshikh’s plans. “It’s an honor to step into the ring on May 3 at Riyadh Season against the best boxer in the world,” Scull wrote. “Canelo is a legend, but I’ll be ready and win the world titles for all the Cuban people, for AGON, my family, and for myself & will be undisputed champion!”

That said, with Canelo set to face Scull and Crawford in his next two fights, the only unanswered question is, who will follow them as his next opponents?

What’s next for Canelo Alvarez?

While nothing has been said explicitly, there are a few names that fans would love to see Canelo fight. And with assistance and the big bucks from His Excellency, these fights can become reality. There’s, of course, Artur Beterbiev, who is considered the scariest boxer in the light heavyweight division.

If Beterbiev can win his rematch against Dmitry Bivol this month, a fight against Canelo Alvarez will be the biggest thing for him. On the other hand, if Bivol wins and becomes undisputed, a rematch between Canelo and Bivol can shake up the boxing world. Some can argue David Benavidez can also be added to the list, but whether PBC will sign off on that fight with the Saudis involved is unclear.

It appears William Scull plans to ruin Canelo Alvarez’s chance to make millions of dollars in the Terence Crawford fight. However, saying he can beat Canelo is different from actually doing it. Still, Canelo is no stranger to an upset loss, so only time will tell what will happen on fight night. Do you think Scull has what it takes?
