The defeat of Canelo Alvarez against Dmitry Bivol sent shock waves into the boxing world. He faced the second defeat of his career since Floyd Mayweather in 2013. Talking to media personnel, ‘The Future of Boxing’ said, “Canelo is still a great champion. One of the best in the world. But it is what it is. We got to give him respect. He is going down in history as a legend in the sport. Nobody can count him out. I feel like if there is a fight again Canelo would probably knock him out or some I don’t know. You just can’t doubt Canelo just because of one loss. I give him respect.”

Mentioning Canelo’s win against light heavyweight champ Sergey Kovalev, Charlo highlighted the strategy of Canelo against Bivol that did not work out.

He said, “I thought [Sergey] Kovalev did better than [Dmitry] Bivol but Canelo made better adjustments.”
