In the entire boxing fraternity, there have been countless Mexican boxers who’ve taken the sport by storm. Yet, there are two pugilists, Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez, who have separated themselves from the rest. Chavez is a retired superstar of the game, whereas Canelo is still going super-strong with his boxing stint even today.

Both of them have a magnetic fan following, not just in Mexico, but across the entire globe. That said, their hardcore fans in Mexico painted their images on their walls and put out a caption saying, “Champions are made, not born.”

ESPN Knockout shared this image, which later accrued reactions from fans and fighters around the world.

In 1981, Chavez made his pro boxing debut. Back then nobody envisioned him as a special talent, but the Mexican had his intentions clear on what he wished to do. With his sheer brilliance, he registered constant wins and made his way to the top. After 24 years as a competitor, he retired with a whopping 107-6-2 boxing stint.

Following his footsteps, Canelo Alvarez, too, is tracing the pathway of greatness. There are significant comparisons drawn between him and Chavez because both of them have achieved enough in the sport of boxing. A few months back, Alvarez even admitted that if he’d fought Chavez in his prime, he would have beaten him.
