Lopez and his mandatory challenger Kambosos Jr. will fight on a Triller card after the streaming service won the purse bid. However, with such a lucrative bid, the platform had to put on a star-studded show to make up for it. And Lopez has now revealed who they considered.

The 16-0 champion spoke to the AK & Barak Show on DAZN and broke the news. He said, “Alright, so this is what was going to happen, man. I was going to be the main event, which I still am. And the co-main event was going to be Oscar De La Hoya.”

‘The Takeover’ then revealed it fell through only because the former multi-weight champion announced that he had stopped training. However, his comment showed just how serious it was.

Rumors initially suggested that the Lopez-Kambosos Jr. fight would be the co-main event on the possible Mike Tyson vs. Evander Holyfield event. However, that seems to be out of the picture now that Lopez wants to be the main event.

The undefeated champion did not stop at breaking the massive news of De La Hoya. He then spoke about his title defense and stressed that they had another surprise in store. However, he revealed the location of the event.

“Right now, we’re just talking location wise. It will probably be in Miami, you know. And I got a huge fan base out there in Miami. So I think it will be a smart move for all of us,” said Lopez.

If Triller cannot put on a big-name co-main event, it will be an enormous challenge for all parties involved. The platform will have to promote the event to make up their massive bid, while Lopez’s ability to sell a fight will be tested.
