On August 21, the WBA welterweight ‘super’ champ, Yordenis Ugas, appeared under the big lights to face the boxing icon, Manny Pacquiao. Walking in as an underdog, Ugas had a point to prove. In the ring, the Cuban boxing star fared just like he planned and pulled off a staggering upset, defeating ‘Pacman’.

With this win, he certainly put out a huge statement in the 147-pound landscape and rightly proved his worth as the WBA champ. Following his triumph, there have been raining accolades on ’54 Milagros’. But there’s one prime gift he received recently from the Mayor of Miami city, Francis Suarez.

Mike Coppinger shared Ugas’ image with the mayor, wherein the latter was seen gifting the boxer a key to the wonderful city of Miami.

Being the underdog, Ugas wasn’t under pressure to perform well in his fight against the Senator. However, as he had a point to prove, he certainly knew what he had to do. Also, his game plan was simple, to hit and not get hit in return.

The lanky fighter used the ring space efficiently and remained dominant. He landed his jabs and power-packed right hands. The assault stunned ‘Pacman’, but the 42-year-old kept counterattacking to make this bout somewhat entertaining.

In the end, Ugas prevailed, surpassed the toughest test of his boxing career, and retained his belt.
