Laila Ali’s mother assaults her nanny following an altercation

In her book ‘Reach!: Finding Strength, Spirit and Personal Power’, Laila described how her nanny was a heavy drinker who could care less about her. Moreover, she revealed that after being fired by her mother, the nanny had a breakdown and started cursing her and her sister. However, Laila’s mother would come to her rescue and teach the nanny a lesson she wouldn’t forget.

Another nanny was a heavy drinker and had to be fired by Mom. The nanny didn’t take it well. I stood there as she called me and Hana bast*rds. Just like that, my mother suddenly grabbed the woman by her blouse, yanked her up off her feet, and slammed her against the wall, seething, ‘How dare you call my daughters names!’ We never heard from the nanny again,” she wrote.

This incident was very surprising for both Laila and Hana who had never seen their mother physically assault someone. In addition, this was nothing like her as Laila revealed she was a caring and sensitive person.

In the next line, Laila details how she and her sister couldn’t believe their eyes. She detailed that it was the first time she saw her mother become a ‘warrior’ from being a time soul, which made Laila very happy as her mother finally stood up for her and not the other way around.

Hana and I were shocked. We’d always seen Mom as gentle and demure. Now right before our eyes, she stepped out of character, transforming herself into a warrior. I liked what I saw; it made me feel Mom really had my back,” she added.
