Ryan Garcia suffered a devastating first career loss against Gervonta Davis back in April this year. The Los Angeles resident had claimed a big game before the fight. But he could not translate the same in the ring as Davis ended the fight in the seventh round with a brutal body shot. Adding fuel to the fire, Garcia got into an altercation with his promoter, which resulted in a lawsuit between them.

However, it’s not all bad news for the 23-1 boxer, as he is set to make a comeback against Oscar Duarte on December 2. Likewise, fans and experts alike have contemplated Ryan’s mental state coming off of a devastating loss. Commenting on the topic, Derrick James, Ryan’s head coach, revealed some advice he imparted to Ryan after his loss to ‘Tank.’ So, the burning question is – what wore the words that pushed ‘King Ry’ to redeem himself in the upcoming fight?

While appearing on an interview with Fight Hub TV, Derrick James described the advice he gave to Ryan Garcia. James stressed the importance of leaving the past behind and moving forward, claiming that dwelling on past losses serves no purpose. “It’s in the past. You can’t live in it cuz you can’t move forward if you stuck in that particular space,” said James.

But that’s not all! He went on to suggest he told Garcia that losses are an inherent part of a boxer’s journey in real life. So, it’s better to keep moving forward and stay focused on honing one’s skills. “That’s real life, so don’t worry about it, keep it moving and just stay focused,” James told Fight Hub TV. Moreover, James suggested that’s what Ryan has been doing to prepare for the upcoming fight.

Oscar Duarte is grateful to Garcia

The Mexican boxer is coming off an eleven-fight streak of knockouts and is looking to enhance his resume by defeating Ryan. Even though Oscar fought in the Lightweight division, he climbed to Welterweight to go up against Ryan Garcia. What’s more, Oscar seemed thankful to Garcia for taking the fight at the launch press conference for the upcoming fight.
