Unified middleweight champion Claressa Shields advanced her unbeaten record to 12-0 after successfully defending her belts via a decision against Ema Kozin in the UK. She then went straight ahead to feud with WBO titlist Savannah Marshall, who was present in the crowd.

A potential scrap between Shields and Marshall would call for an undisputed title fight in the division, as both women share the 160 lbs belts amongst each other. Nevertheless, Shields didn’t seem very interested as she boasted her IBF, WBA, and WBC belts before Marshall, who just holds only one title at the time.

Marshall delivered a similar approach on Shields and found ways to ridicule Claressa Shields’ win over Ema Kozin, and the mutual banter doesn’t seem to fade anytime soon.

In an exclusive chat with Sky Sports, Marshall said – “You can’t come over, burn everyone’s skull out all week calling yourself the greatest, slander me in interviews and on Twitter and then when it comes to it give me a fist-pump after performing like that.”

“Somebody had to tell her, she really underperformed. You can’t call yourself the greatest and then go 10 rounds with somebody who is fresh out the womb.”

Meanwhile, Savannah Marshall didn’t demean Ema Kozin any further. He hailed the youngster but detailed how Kozin didn’t nurture anything in Claressa Shields’ legacy. That said, Marshall had vanquished Shields back in 2012 at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships. A rematch for all the middleweight straps will clearly be intriguing at this point.

Claressa Shields vs. Savannah Marshall – One of the best matchups

Marshall seems prepared to offer herself against ‘GWOAT’ Claressa Shields again. She has also billed it as the biggest fight in the women’s boxing history, while Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano is already being honored with the tag. However, Marshall is not ready to believe so, as she sees herself being part of the best fight in female boxing.

Marshall will now face Femke Hermans in April. On bagging a possible win, she can edge towards facing Shields. Besides, the middleweight division can offer her many more matchups, citing a bright future for the champion.
