The sport of boxing has witnessed numerous greats who have graced the boxing ring. The list of the greats is long, and every boxer is special in their own way. On a recent episode of his podcast, one of the greatest heavyweights of all time, Mike Tyson, discussed the greatness of the former Welsh world champion. Joe Calzaghe, when lightweight professional boxer Ryan Garcia joined him. Calzaghe has held multiple world championships in two different weight classes. And he is regarded as one of the most versatile boxers ever to tighten their gloves. Garcia and Tyson were both appreciative of Calzaghe in the podcast. But Tyson put Garcia in his place after he made a remark about the Welsh former boxer.

Both the boxing sensations were discussing the life of Calzarghe when Garcia made a comment that Tyson did not like, and the 56-year-old did not hesitate to point it out to the lightweight.

Mike Tyson and Ryan Garcia on Joe Calzaghe

On the recent episode of hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, ‘Iron Mike’ and Garcia discussed the life and greatness of former Welsh world champion Joe Calzaghe. But Tyson did not like Garcia’s comment on the former boxer. And he further shared his feelings with the 24-year-old.

Tyson began the discussion on Joe Calzaghe. He said, “Calzaghe looks great. He looks good.”

Garcia further said, “Calzaghe also didn’t have that. Nothing stood out. He didn’t have the speed. Everything was average, but he did everything at a high volume.”

To this, Tyson added and said, “He put it together.”  Garcia later showed his praise for the Welsh boxer and was impressed by the fact that he always came back in his fights.

Garcia mentioned the fight between Bernard Hopkins and Joe Calzaghe, but Tyson intervened, and told ‘KingRy,’ “You can’t take that away from him. He had his time.”

The Welsh former professional boxer, also known as the ‘Italian Dragon,’ has had one of the most illustrious careers in the sport. He stayed undefeated throughout his professional career. And his professional boxing record stands at 46 wins and 32 knockouts.

To this day, he is one of the only fifteen world champions who retired undefeated from their career. Despite his small size, he was able to knock out guys bigger than him. And, it is safe to say that he has engraved his name on the wall of the greats in boxing.
