This week, Floyd Mayweather and Bill Haney turned Instagram Live into a battleground following Devin Haney’s defeat to Ryan Garcia on 20th April. Did Mayweather hold back? Not a chance. He taunted Bill for “going missing” after the fight.
As if the drama wasn’t enough, Claressa Shields chimed in with her take. With Mayweather’s sharp jabs and Shield’s fiery commentary, is boxing drama now rivaling the fights themselves? What do you think?

Floyd Mayweather isn’t one to shy away from a verbal spar, and this time his opponent was Bill Haney, father and trainer of recently defeated boxer Devin Haney. In an intense session with FightHype, Mayweather laid it out clearly. “To Bill – if I’m not mistaken, it’s ‘not the Floyd Mayweather era’. The torch was ‘taken from me’. They said it’s not the Floyd Mayweather era… He didn’t have that same energy after the fight. Normally he’s right there like a parrot on Devin’s shoulder. That man was on a milk carton, he went missing,” he stated, as reported by Michael Benson.

Do the Haneys need Mayweather?
The tension was palpable during the Instagram Live as Bill Haney and Floyd Mayweather didn’t hold back. Mayweather’s jab was swift and stinging, “You need some help? He needed help the other night.” Not one to retreat, Haney fired back with equal fervor, challenging Mayweather’s involvement and intentions.

“Have I ever needed your help with anything? Your son needs help tonight, not the other night, you bald a** hurt man. My son needs me, tomorrow, today, and every day. We don’t need you for dog s***.” It was a heated exchange, with both sides laying bare their frustrations and defenses, making it clear that this was more than just a simple disagreement—it was personal.
So, what’s your take on this verbal slugfest? Do you think these public spats are good for the sport, or do they distract from the real battles in the ring?
