Recently, ‘Iron’ Mike had a chat with Shannon Sharpe. Here, he ended up making one of the most brutal admissions about the sport of boxing.

He said, “Listen right, it’s almost impossible to walk Muhammad Ali into a punch. But you know it’s all about setting up people in position almost like playing chess. Right position to knock them out or drop somebody, hit them. But you know fighters got spirit, sometimes some guys, you got to beat them to death. They just won’t quit.”

The level of competition has undoubtedly increased in the boxing vertical. However, the retro era that comprised fighters like Muhammad Ali, Tyson, Lennox Lewis, and more boasted the most competitive heavyweight period of all time.

Mike Tyson – Which was his toughest career fight?

Mike Tyson’s career was full of trials. At one point, he seemed unbeatable, but James Douglas gave him his first career loss. He moved ahead to grab many more wins, but a fight that truly remained the toughest of his career was against Evander Holyfield.

Tyson confronted Holyfield twice and in both these fights, he ended up on the losing side. In their first fight, ‘Iron’ Mike viciously lost via a T/KO in round 11. Nothing went right for him in this fight.

In their second meet, the famous ear bite incident took place, aka ‘The Bite’ Fight, post which Tyson was disqualified. The fight concluded in round 3, but until then too, Tyson didn’t quite hammer Holyfield.
