The 2015 showdown between five-division world champion, Floyd Mayweather Jr., and eight-division world champion, Manny Pacquiao, was one of the highest-viewed fights in boxing history. Meanwhile, YouTuber turned boxer, KSI, has been creating waves with the Misfits Boxing series. KSI recently introduced a WWE-style Tag Team Boxing Match as a part of the series. And it was reported that he might bring Mayweather and Pacquiao together once again for a tag team boxing match. However, it looks like that match might not become a reality.

It is safe to say that the tag team match was a hit among crossover fans. @HappyPunchPromo recently announced that Mayweather and KSI will team up and face Pacquiao and fellow Filipino, Salt Papi. Notably, Papi is a YouTuber who made a name for himself in the world of influencer boxing with his performances.

Fullsend Sports recently shared a post calling the fight announcement fake. And, also mentioned that the fight will not take place. Mayweather, on the other hand, further affirmed this by sharing the post as an Instagram story.

Fans stand in unison with Floyd Mayweather

Mayweather was not the only one who was vocal about the fight being fake. A lot of fans were in agreement that the authenticity of the fight was questionable from the get-go. In fact, a lot of them took to the comments to share their thoughts.

Spenxcedawg was quick to ask, “Who believed this?”

Similarly, dspeer93 called out all the fans who believed the fight announcement. The user said, “If you believed that you probably believed in Santa when you were 30.”

In the same vein, Solomane did not agree with the matchup. They mentioned, “Yea this shit would’ve been dumb asf.”

Kyle Forgeard, on the other hand, said, “Floyd approved.”

Meanwhile, Rahim Baro felt that there is a chance of the fight happening. The user said, “Mayweather doesn’t like announcing things that aren’t confirmed. He’s simply saying it’s not confirmed, because it isn’t – negotiations are still ongoing.”

In agreement, Ryne Sierra also wanted the fight to take place. The user said, “Unless Floyd puts fights like these on his record, they really don’t interest me. He talks all that bc he’s 50-0 and yeah he’s the best. But you really can’t be talking all that if you’re scared to lose it.”
