Prime super middleweights Caleb Plant and Rocky Fielding engaged in verbal banter on Twitter. Both the men went after each other regarding their performances against the undisputed super-middleweight champ, Canelo Alvarez. The trash talk reached a stage where Fielding even called Plant out for a fight.

Fielding tweeted, “Seen you perform on big stage to and ended up flattened…your ranked 3 am 8 with WBA. So let’s fight ye punk. come back fight for you” 

“Big difference in going out on ur knees with a smile on ur face and going out on ur shield and wanting to continue after. The only reason you didn’t wind up flat lined is because you quit on your knees and were smiling before you made it there,” responded Plant.

Rocky Fielding confronted Canelo back in 2018 for the WBA super-middleweight title. The lanky Fielding had some weight to his name, but Canelo was just too good for him. As a result, the p4p king dropped Fielding in rounds 1, 2, and 3. Post the final knockdown, as Fielding was on his knees, the referee decided to conclude the fight.

Contrastingly, Plant put on a better display against Alvarez and reached the penultimate round before the Mexican caught him with power-packed hooks to the chin. ‘Sweethands’ got floored twice and lost the bout to the elite Alvarez.

Given that both Plant and Fielding seem to have flagged off their rivalry with their performances against Canelo as a benchmark, they might be keen to iron out their mistakes when they possibly face each other next.
