If someone spots Anthony Joshua on the street and isn’t aware of who he is, they may never label him as a dominant world champion pugilist. This is because he has a nice amicable demeanor and doesn’t fit the image of the intimidating world-beating boxer. 

However, asking him this question could see him come across as Jekyll who reveals his Hyde persona, which isn’t as nice. A reporter learned this when he stood in a boxing ring and asked Joshua if he was “too nice to be a boxer.”

When the then IBF heavyweight challenger responded, there was a hint of annoyance in his voice. He said, “The thing is, you asked me that question about a minute ago. I’m not even messing about right now… I’m gonna tell you about myself. Don’t ask me that question again… You’re seriously lucky I’ve got these gloves on because they are f***ing me off – these questions about, ‘Am I too nice?’ ”

‘AJ‘ dared the reporter to ask him the question once more and reminded him of where he stood. He said, “You’re in my domain now. You’re in the lion’s den with me.”

Anthony Joshua claimed to have been asked this question too often. He challenged the reporter to ask him if he was “too nice.” The British boxer snapped as he claimed he had already addressed these questions before, and hearing them “did his head in.”

When the reporter attempted to move to question two, Joshua had fun and tried to prove he is not “too nice.”

‘AJ’ said, “Don’t go on to question two, finish question one.” As the reporter began the first question again, Joshua cut him off by saying, “Don’t ask me that question. I just told you. Don’t ask me that question. Get out of this ring.” 

A few seconds later, as the reporter said he couldn’t get out of the ring, Joshua burst out in laughter as light dawned on the man. A few weeks later, ‘AJ’ won his inaugural world title in his sixteenth professional bout. He finished Charles Martin in the second minute of the second round. He claimed two more world titles and is among the top three heavyweights in the world. This proves he is “not nice” only in the ring.
