Oscar was quick to callout Shakur after Zepeda’s win. He challenged, “He’s ready for anybody. … Shakur, if you’re watching, let’s get it on, let’s go.” Even Zepeda himself said to The Ring, “In a perfect world, I want Shakur next,” after his big win. But nothing has materialized yet. And Shakur Stevenson’s frustration surfaced again, marking not the first time he’s accused Oscar De La Hoya of clout chasing. Stevenson aired his grievances on Twitter, demanding clarity and accusing De La Hoya of leveraging his name without intent to finalize a fight. “Yooo @OscarDeLaHoya I still haven’t heard nothing yet about Zepeda fighting me July 6th how can u say my name over and over and not make the fight happen next was u using me to promote your fighter fight or?”

Promptly, Oscar De La Hoya responded, indicating a future discussion. “Zepeda is fighting soon for the second time this year, I’ll talk to your promoter third quarter of this year,” he replied. This exchange highlighted the ongoing negotiation drama, stirring more anticipation among fans. De La Hoya’s reply suggested a timeline, yet left the immediate future of the Stevenson-Zepeda matchup in ambiguity.
