His opponent is also a former Olympian. Vargas represented the United States of America at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. The 38-year-old has a boxing record of 22-6-0 with 9 KOs. Although, we must take into account that he has fought recognized heavyweight contenders.

How do we think the Zhilei Zhang-Devin Vargas fight will go?

Looking at the fighters and their boxing style, we think Zhilei Zhang will win this fight by knockout. Though he may not have fought a lot of recognized contenders, his power and movement will be too much for Vargas to handle. Vargas is a type of fighter who stands and trades with his opponent in the hope of landing a big punch to knock them out. Zhang, however, is a more complete fighter and can excel at both aspects.

One can not ignore the 22 victories Vargas has amassed, but when you look at his losses, there is a similar trend. He tends to lose when the opponent is more powerful than him. This is because of his decision to stand and fight rather than box. Zhang has the power and speed advantage. It could be an early end for the American and thus pave way for a whole new market for boxing.
