In an interview with Detroit Free Press, Shields claimed that she was disappointed after meeting Williams in person as she turned to be unfriendly with fans.

She said, “She [Serena Williams] was just not nice. For me to look up to her like I did when I was a kid and then meet her in person and see how she’s not fan-friendly.” According to the 27-year-old, the tennis star was mean to many people, which made Shields not look up to her anymore.
