The Tokyo Olympics 2020 saw an enthralling boxing flyweight final between Carlo Paalam and Galal Yafai. The two young guns put on a stupendous show for fans around the globe and kept each other on their toes until the last bell. However, in the end, it was Yafai who came out on top to attain a sensational win, alongside the Olympic gold.
That said, the Filipino boxer had to settle for a silver. Despite him bagging a silver, the entire boxing fraternity lauded Paalam for his performance. The Filipino senator, Manny Pacquiao, too, congratulated his compatriot and gave him some words of encouragement.

Yafai dropped Paalam in the first round itself. This came in as a tremendous shock to everyone watching this contest. But post this knockdown, the Filipino boxer collected himself and he went toe-to-toe with the Great Britain boxer.
However, Yafai kept his rival on the back foot throughout the fight. Paalam had his fair share of moments in this encounter, but he primarily stayed on the receiving end of the assault coming from Yafai.

In the end, the GB boxer claimed a points win. Despite him being the center of attraction, Paalam, too, raised countless eyebrows with his performance.

Is the future bright for Carlo Paalam and Galal Yafai?
Both Paalam and Yafai dispatched several opponents to meet each other in the finals of the most prestigious Olympic games. They entertained the masses and showed why boxing is one high-voltage sport. Also, with the prowess they hold in their bag, it’s safe to admit that this duo is on the brink of enjoying a decorated career ahead.
