Going up against Floyd Mayweather, one of the best boxers of all time, is no small feat. Veteran fighters like Manny Pacquiao and Marcos Maidana couldn’t penetrate Mayweather’s impenetrable defense. Hence, NBA star LeBron James had nothing but praise for Conor McGregor.

Following his defeat against Mayweather, the four-time NBA champion expressed some heartfelt words toward the UFC fighter.

LeBron James commends Conor McGregor for his performance against Floyd Mayweather
On August 26, 2017, the world witnessed one of the biggest crossover events billed as ‘The Money Fight’. Five-division champion Floyd Mayweather went toe to toe against former UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor in a boxing match.
Unsurprisingly, the undefeated boxer extended his record to 50-0 as he stopped McGregor in the 10th round of the fight. NBA star LeBron James came out in support of the Irishman as he called him tough to get in the ring.

He said, “You’ve got to respect him, though, because he ain’t no boxer. Tough as a motherf***er.” Furthermore, James humbly accepted that he would be no match for Mayweather either as he’d be “dropping in the first round”, per Bleacher Report.

Although McGregor lost the fight against Mayweather, there is no doubt he exceeded all expectations in the ring. Hence, there are talks about a potential rematch.
Will we see Mayweather vs McGregor II?
Considering the numbers the first fight generated, it is not surprising to see the legends of their respective sports run it back again. A source close to Mayweather has revealed that the rematch between the undefeated boxer and McGregor is on the table.

The Irishmen also posted a picture of him punching Mayweather with the caption, “I accept.” Additionally, the 45-year-old claimed that McGregor will take the fight because he can pay more than UFC President Dana White. Only time will tell whether a sequel to the ‘Money Fight’ will take place.
