In the world of combat sports, upsets and surprises are not uncommon. One moment, a fighter can be at the top of their game, and the next, they can fall to an unexpected defeat. This was the case for Alex Pereira, who suffered a knockout loss to Israel Adesanya at UFC 287. However, what made this defeat even more surprising was the reaction of boxing sensation Ryan Garcia, who had previously praised Pereira’s fighting style just days before the fight.

Garcia’s tweet after the bout was unexpected, to say the least, and it has caused many to wonder about his thoughts on the outcome of the fight. But how did Ryan Garcia react to the outcome of the highly anticipated fight between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira? Did he stand by his praise for Pereira’s hands-down technique, or did he acknowledge Adesanya’s superior skill in the octagon?

Ryan Garcia was one of the many who lauded Alex Pereira’s technical skills prior to his fight against Israel Adesanya at UFC 287. Garcia, a professional boxer himself, certainly knows a thing or two about striking and was impressed with Pereira’s hands-down technique. However, as fate would have it, this technique would eventually cost Pereira the belt against Adesanya.

Earlier, Garcia on his Instagram had expressed his admiration for Pereira’s hands-down approach. He was particularly impressed with how Pereira had used it to his advantage in his kickboxing matches against Adesanya. Garcia wrote, “May think his hands are down but his awareness of spacing and anticipation is what keeps him safe.”

Ryan’s Tweet after Adesanya’s victory

Things did not go as planned for Pereira in his UFC 287 rematch against Adesanya. Adesanya, having learned from his previous loss to Pereira, was more patient and calculated in his approach. He managed to land a clean shot on Pereira, knocking him out and reclaiming the middleweight championship. Following the bout, ‘KingRy’ took to Twitter and reacted to Adesanya’s knockout victory over his former rival. In his tweet, Ryan expressed his excitement and praised Adesanya’s performance.
