Last weekend, the UFC’s biggest superstar, Conor McGregor, capitulated to a lopsided defeat in his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier. The Irishman lost his UFC 264 contest via doctor’s stoppage, as he suffered a vicious leg break in round 1 itself. This left the fans disheartened as they wanted this fight to determine a true winner.

After the injury, McGregor had to be taken out on a stretcher, as he could not stand. That said, this entire incident caught every combat sports lover’s eye. And eventually, McGregor was on the receiving end of a huge backlash coming from the fans and fighters.

Right from the first bell of this trilogy bout, McGregor looked to press his opponent. He landed some slick leg kicks alongside some quick jabs. But midway through round 1, ‘The Diamond’ turned the tide in his favor and counter attacked the Irishman.

Mayweather scored an easy win against McGregor in 2017. This was the Irishman’s boxing debut wherein he fared well, but subsequently lost that fight.

The rivalry between McGregor and Mayweather has only increased since then. However, there is still no chance of it being settled inside the squared circle as ‘Pretty Boy’, who has left the sport for good, has no plans of returning to the professional circuit.
