Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones were two of the best purebred fighters on the planet during their prime. The two dominated their respective sport with ease, dismantling every opponent presented to them, not even making fights a close contest. Moreover, it is safe to say that another similarity between the two is that their worst enemies were themselves. It is widely believed that Tyson and Jones were responsible for their own downfall. There were only a few men who even stood a chance against these two fighters.

However, they were their own worst enemies letting their egos get the better of them. Tyson even once related to ‘Bones’ giving the reason as to why he met with so much trouble outside the Octagon.  The majority of the two fighter’s downfall can be attributed to the feats they did outside the ring, but inside it, they were two generational talents. This also begged the question of who would win in a fight if these two legends were pitted against each other.

YouTuber pits Mike Tyson and Jon Jones in a hypothetical fight

Tyson vs Jones: Fans Pick

One fan claimed that there is no man at this point who could beat Jones in a fight. “At this moment in time there is almost no man who can beat Jon Jones on the street,” he wrote.

Another fan also picked Jones but stated that he needed to survive the first few heavy punches of Iron Mike. “If jon doesn’t get dropped in the first few rounds then it goes to jones but it would be likely he gets knocked out by tyson,” he wrote.

However, according to one fan, while Tyson was great, Jones could beat anyone in a fight. “Mike Tyson very good but its Jon Jones, he beats everyone in street fight,” he wrote.

Lastly, one fan stated that this matchup depended on the rules. If the fight was under boxing rules Tyson would get the nod. However, Jones would get the victory in an MMA fight. “Depends on which rules: if it’s regular boxing…and both prime as well…mike Tyson easily. Mma rules…Jon Jones,” he wrote.

While the fans praised both fighters and think either one has a chance to beat the other, most of them sided with the former UFC champ. Moreover, this is justified as ‘Bones’ is the definition of a Mixed Martial Artist, and is believed to have no holes in his game.
