“He Has a Jail at Home” – Coach Reveals Khabib’s Insane Muhammad Ali Inspiration to Train His Students Better

Khabib Nurmagomedov left the Octagon with every fan’s respect. He retired from fighting in the cage with an undefeated record of 29 wins and no losses. To add to his legend, he entered the UFC Hall of Fame in 2022. However, it was revealed that he is very strict as a coach.

In ‘The Schmozone’, Javier Mendez recently revealed that the featherweight champion has a holding cell in his house. The Coach uses the jail to discipline his students.

The jail in Khabib Nurmagomedov’s estate

Coach Javier Mendez recently appeared on ‘The Schmozone’ and revealed how Coach Khabib Nurmagomedov punishes his students. “He has a jail at home,” said Mendez. “When they go out of line, he puts them in jail.” Nonetheless, he clarified that he has never seen the pictures himself. He said, “I have never seen the pictures but he goes- I go, hey, where’s Muhammad Ali? Oh, Coach, he was in jail. I go, wow, real jail! He goes, no no, my jail.”

Mendez further clarified that Nurmagomedov puts his students who went on the wrong track in his jail. However, he failed to say how long these punishments went. He said, “I don’t know if it’s house arrest. I just know Khabib has- He puts them in jail.” 

Khabib Nurmagomedov is strict as a coach

Moreover, Coach Mendez had nothing but praise for ‘The Eagle’ as a coach. “He’s very strict”, he said. Mendez also revealed facts about Nurmagomedov’s father. Mendez claimed that he saw the UFC champion’s father in him. Additionally, he compared the father and son as coaches and was amazed at the similarities. “I see his father in him, over and over. How much he loves the fighters. They’re his brothers. He loves them so much, that for him, he’ll do whatever he can to set them straight. That’s what his father did”, said the Coach. Without a doubt, the uncanny similarities earned ‘The Eagle’ all the respect of his students.

Furthermore, Mendez also revealed that ‘The Eagle’ confiscates everyone’s cellular phones after a set curfew. He said, “That’s what Khabib does to the fighters. When he finds out they are super tired, he’ll curfew for them. I think it was 10 or 11 PM. He would go collect their phones.”

Nurmagomedov has proven himself to be a really good coach. His greatest victory came with Islam Makhachev claiming the title of lightweight champion by defeating Charles Oliveira, in UFC 280. Moreover, the team’s desire for greater success clashed against Alexander Volkanovski. Makhachev and Volkanovski had an in-cage face-off after the former’s victory. Doubtlessly, all hearts have aligned with the Makhachev vs. Volkanovski fight.
