The fight that robbed the legendary veteran from becoming the oldest heavyweight champion was a title clash between former two-time undisputed heavyweight champion  Evander Holyfield and Nikolai Valuev. When Jorge Masvidal, the UFC fighter shared the video highlights of this clash on Facebook, interestingly it brought Mike Tyson into the story.

He wrote, “They put Evander Holyfield in the ring with a GIANT.”

Held in 2008, and regarded by many boxing critics as the worst title fight was disappointing in various ways. Holyfield challenged Valuev for his WBA heavyweight title to become the oldest heavyweight champion at the age of 46.

Though it was challenging for aging Holyfield, he did enough to win the bout by decision. But when the judges’ scorecard was unveiled, it left the boxing world in shock.

This was one part of the story. The other part that Holyfield experienced in the ring was that he was facing 7-foot tall giant Valuev. So in the entire fight, whenever he tried to get close to Valuev to hit him, his head caught the champion’s chin. The highlight that Masvidal shared showed that Holyfield headbutted Valuev several times.

So when fans saw this clip on social media, they recalled the infamous bout between Mike Tyson and Holyfield.

In that clash, Tyson bites Holyfield’s ear after getting frustrated with the latter’s headbutts.
