Former UFC two-division champion Daniel Cormier took to Twitter and shared his views on a highly-anticipated boxing exhibition. Chiefly, Mike Tyson makes his return to boxing after 15 years away as he takes on Roy Jones Jr. Furthermore, the bout has garnered plenty of attention due to the celebrity bout between Jake Paul and NBA star Nate Robinson on the same card.

Cormier was one of many within the combat sports community to chime in on the spectacle that’s set in stone. The famed Staples Center will play host to the aforementioned event that has grabbed fan attention universally. ‘DC’ was quick to share his willingness to purchase the pay-per-view that comes in at a price of $49.99.

“So if somebody said ‘DC, for $49.99 you could watch Mike Tyson and Roy Jones spar, would you do it?’. I mean, seems like a no-brainer. $49.99 to watch them spar at the gym, headgear- no headgear, knockouts-no knockouts. I don’t care what the rules are, I’m watching Roy Jones and Mike Tyson fight.”

Normally, the price of the pay-per-view wouldn’t be a point of discussion; however, several factors contribute to it being mentioned.

Chiefly, the rules surrounding the main event exhibition bout have seen several changes ever since the fight was announced. Initially, Tyson vs Jones Jr was set to take place with headgear and this was just one of many stringent rules. As time went on, several minor and major changes were added to the bout.

Moreover, this went a long way in confusing fans, and it’s easy to see why that was the case. Apart from the fight itself, there were many questions about the commission and its jurisdiction. Fans have been confused about the judging and scoring of the fight. Not to mention, there have been questions surrounding the fact that the bout may be stopped in the event of a serious cut.

Despite the confusion heading into the bout, there’s no doubt that fans are ready to see the legends step in the cage. Additionally, Daniel Cormier certainly has no qualms about dishing out $49.99 to see the icons duke it out.
