Both fighters put forth their best but Makhachev emerged as the winner by second-round submission.

After the event, ‘The Notorious’ took to Twitter and wrote, “Nice fight. nice performance. I have built all the tools to beat this style now Vs b4. Experience Vs ****. Face-breaking shots from the clinch and baby-brain batter shots from the bottom. And the rest of my repertoire you know. Steel left leg. Cannon’s backhand. wrist control.”

This was a kind of challenge to the newly crowned undisputed UFC lightweight champion. But it did not sit well with the controversial boxer. Taking a dig at McGregor’s remark, he wrote, “Only tools he has built are twitter fingers. Islam would Khabib him in one round. Hence why he deleted his tweets.”

Recently, while discussing his fight with McGregor on his weekly show, the 25-year-old made an unusual announcment. Earlier, he was eager to face ‘The Notorious’ and now he has seemingly given up on this contest.

McGregor is on a long layoff after suffering a leg injury against Dustin Poirier. Since then he has remained active on social media and often shares his pictures and training videos. Apart from that, he kept a close look at the sport and passes his remark.
