Moreover, former UFC middleweight title contender and one of Silva’s most iconic rivals, Chael Sonnen had huge praise for the fight. ‘The American Gangster’ recently claimed that he wanted this fight to go more than 8 rounds. Moreover, he even roped in legends like Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, and Canelo Alvarez stating that he had not wished to see their fights go more than the scheduled rounds, unlike Paul vs Silva.
“When this fight was over I wanted to see another round if I would have made my choice. I would have seen another round, I can’t say that about other fights. I can’t say that about Pacquiao vs Mayweather, I can’t say that about Floyd vs Canelo. … I’ve seen enough boxing has ruined itself by going so long,” said Sonnen.

Although Sonnen picked Silva to win the fight, it was a really close fight, with Paul edging away with the decision. Moreover, for Sonnen, this was a fight that entertained him more than the classic bouts he mentioned.

Jake Paul dismisses accusations of fight rigging
Despite his victory, many have accused ‘The Problem Child’ of allegedly rigging the fight in some manner. However, he responded to these accusations on the MMA hour. Paul stated that the people involved in the sport were giving him props for the win and also called anyone accusing him of misconduct a ‘hater’.
“I think smart people with intelligence are giving me props and respect. Like the WBC President saying that anyone who says Jake is not a real boxer is just bitter and is a hater,” he said.

Moreover, Paul added that he had now lost faith in his peers. He claimed he worked very hard for the victory for people to just dismiss it. “I lose faith in my generation and my peers, and us as a society and a world when I see that type of stuff and that type of stupidity. It just sucks. It sucks because I worked so hard for this,” he added.

This is not the first time Paul has been accused of match-fixing. The Ohio-based boxer received a lot of criticism following his victory over Tyron Woodley for allegedly taking a fall. However, all these accusations are unsubstantiated and, in all likeliness, might not be true.
